Pic3D enables 3D effect on any LCD Display without 3D-Glasses

It’ high time to announce the news from the Virtual Reality Exhibition in Tokyo. This time the presented item was a 3D gadget which leaves LCD displays glass-free. Those who haven’t tried it yet have an opportunity to do so. This Pic3D is a thin sheet of transparent film when applied to any screen gives it the effect of a glass-free screen. The Japanese company which makes this product, Global Wave, uses a lenticular lens system instead of parallax barrier. This way it achieves 90 percent of light transmission, and a 120-degree of field view.

The gadget is really easy to use but only after downloading a special application from Pic3D’s website to a digital media device. And then to see the stereoscopic 3D effect the user must view the footage using the app’s built-in video player. The Pic3D works in the side-by-side (SbS) 3D video format only and can work for SbS content on some websites, such as YouTube.
